Teachers First systemizes knowledge on primary school education and teaching - Tuesday, June 15, 2010
Teachers First is preparing a study on Good Practices in primary school education in developing countries. Focus is on specific experiences and methods that visibly contribute to the quality of edcuation and to the motivation of teachers. The study, SMART TEACHING SOLUTIONS, is expected to be published in the summer of 2011.  Interested to bring in your experience? Contact us at stefan@teachersfirst.nl

Welcome to Teachers First, the site dedicated to make primary school teaching the most important job in the World.

Mission Statement

Teachers First is an initiative to promote the quality of Basic Education {(pre) primary education} in developing countries.

Our belief is that good basic education is fundamental for the development of children, communities and countries. Although good and universal basic education requires interventions and actions in a lot of fields, we believe that the most effective strategy to achieve that goal is by assuring the motivation and preparation of the teachers. A motivated teacher is more dedicated to the job and delivers better education. Although most teachers have a strong drive and love their profession, motivation also requires respect from the community and support from the teachers' superiors as well as a remuneration that allows the teachers to dedicate their time and energy to what they are supposed to do: TEACH.

Teachers are one of the main pillars of a sound and progressive society. They bear the weight and responsibility of teaching, and, apart from parents, are the main source of knowledge and values for children. Good basic education increases the potential of any child to have a healthy and happy life. Two generations of sustained good education can change the fate and the social and economic well being of a community, of a country.
